Oil painting yields a different fascination from watercolor for me.  It is easier to manipulate and mistakes are easier to cover.  The substance of the oil paints are smooth and sensual in their mixing   qualities.  After planning the composition, the artist moves from a thin, dark block in to increasingly heavier and lighter paints, ending with the lightest highlights.  Canvas and masonite are conventional  substrates
